September 11, 2001: We all remember the story of that day. Anyone who was old enough to comprehend what that day meant in American history remembers what it felt like to sit there and watch it all unfold. No doubt that you felt fear, anger and most importantly empathy for those who perished. That day we all vowed that we would never forget the sacrifice of those who gave all they could to save as many as their arms could reach. We picked up our flags and waved them harder and prouder than ever before. We didn't see our differences, because those all seemed to insignificant. Why? Because collectively we know that despite our individual ideas we knew that we are first and foremost Americans. We knew that the very ideals that brought us together in 1776 still bound us together today and that we can and will prevail over whoever wishes us harm. The same ideals that make us the greatest country on God's earth. But, as the saying goes, time heals all wounds. And as the years pass some of the emotion is drained from the memory. Perhaps it's our way of moving on. We ask that all of you take a moment this week and take your mind back to that day and remember those who gave all that they had. Remember their families. And remember those who continue to suffer daily both emotionally and physically. The true heroes who make it their life's work to make our country great. Please remember all those who have given their life for their country both domestically and abroad. We owe them all a great debt.

Sincerely,
Assistant Chief James Woda
